The population of students, staff, and family at United Theological College (UTC) in Harare, Zimbabwe, is expected to increase by 50% at a time when the power supply to the college is unreliable. Frequent power outages mean that the electric borehole pump is often unusable. Community members must walk several kilometers for clean water. The power outages also affect the lights and equipment in the library. Switching to solar power will provide a stable source of clean water as well as ensuring that the student population will be able to use the library. A reliable water supply will also increase the UTC community’s food security by providing enough extra water to grow vegetables.
Your Gift of $150 will help give all members of the UTC community access to the clean water and power they need.
