For Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people, ribbon skirts represent reclamation of their heritage and power, as well as connection to their ancestors, culture and land. Many do not have ribbon skirts to wear to Indigenous ceremonies, including burials and feasts. Mamohkamatowin Spiritual Community teaches and guides Indigenous women from the core of Saskatoon, SK to make ribbon skirts. This project also builds community by bringing women together for conversation over coffee and snacks.
Your Gift of $125 provides ribbon skirt kits for a mother and daughter.
