Many children in a co-op apartment complex in urban Mississauga, ON are being raised by single parents, some of whom are also recent immigrants. Westminster United Church responded to the parents’ needs with an after-school program for children aged 4 to 12 in this mixed-income, ethnically diverse building. Kids enjoy crafts, games, reading, healthy snacks, and trips to the park. They make new friends, while developing social and reading skills in a safe environment.
