In Latin America, human rights and land defenders are at risk of being killed because of their activism. The Departamento Ecuménico de Investigaciones (DEI) in Costa Rica provides temporary shelter through their Casa DEI project to activists and their families who are in danger. Safe lodging, psychological care, travel expenses, food, clothing, and medicine are available. While at Casa DEI, defenders also learn about new strategies for activism with human rights defenders from Costa Rica. The activists return to their countries strengthened by a respite and equipped with new tools to resume their work in greater safety.
Your Gift of $50 will support travel expenses, including visas, for a Latin American human rights or land defender.
