Getting Children Out of Coal Mines
GWV23-16
Regular price $50.00In the rural Morcá community in Colombia, youth living in poverty are forced to help support their families by working in coal mines and burning charcoal. They routinely face exploitation and dangerous work. Staff from El Centro Ecuménico para América Latina de Comunicación (CEPALC) give these youth the opportunity to attend courses in Bogotá. In these courses, they learn about their rights, develop communication and media skills, and build networks to fight labour exploitation. With the support of CEPALC, the youth of Morcá can continue to work toward a better future.
Your Gift of $50 will provide materials for 15 youth to produce two programs for radio station “Encuentro Radio” about their realities in the mine.
