Stable Income for Women Farmers

Indigenous women in the small Guatemalan town of Santa María Visitación Sololá see their husbands and older children moving to large towns for work, but for cultural reasons, the women remain in the community, isolated and in poverty. With the support of La Conferencia de Iglesias Evangelicas de Guatemala (CIEDEG), these women have coordinated a pig-raising project. Raising pigs provides an independent and stable income, which in turn gives women a greater voice in their community.

Your Gift of $100 will help provide a woman with one pig, along with the vitamins and medicines needed to keep pigs healthy.
