Ten times more people who identify as Indigenous live in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver than in Vancouver as a whole—but there are very few spiritual care services created for and by Indigenous people. At First United Community Ministry Society, an Indigenous Spiritual Care Chaplain provides pastoral care through a combination of Christianity and Indigenous ways of being. The chaplain also supports Indigenous residents of the Downtown Eastside by working to address community issues like homelessness, truth and reconciliation, racism, and oppression.

Your Gift of $25 will help Indigenous people in the Downtown Eastside receive the support they need in a way that honours their culture.
