Investing in girls' education is investing in the future of a nation. For every year a girl attends school, her future salary increases. Yet in Angola, there are still many girls who have never attended school or have been forced to abandon education at some point in their lives, and the number is rising. Before the pandemic, about 78% of Angolan children were in school. Now it’s likely that as many as 30% of Angolan childen, mostly girls, do not attend school. The Evangelical Christian Church of Angola (IECA) helps keep girls in school by providing materials that many can’t afford.
