Street-based sex work is the most stigmatized and dangerous form of sex work, and Indigenous sex workers are often the most vulnerable to violence and exploitation. Indigenous women who are involved in street-based sex work in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside receive culturally sensitive support from the Aboriginal Health and Safety Project at the WISH Drop-In Centre. Facilitated by an Indigenous coordinator, the program helps destigmatize the women and their work by supporting participant-led healing programs with visiting Elders. The program has continued during COVID-19, and your generosity in 2019–2020 helped lessen the stigma experienced by Indigenous sex workers. Thank you!
Your Gift will provide ten participants with one week of culturally safe healing and learning programs.
